NEW-Make your comments to the FAA's Proposed Remote ID for UAS rules now. The deadline is March 2nd.  The FAA has received over 20,000 comments from modelers across the US, have you made yours?  By law they have to read each comment and according to social media, this is an unprecedented response to a Proposed Rulemaking Request.(2-22-20)

NEXT Fun Fly  is Saturday, MARCH 21st at Elings Park.  We had some 7 pilots and 6 spectators at the last Fun Fly held on Saturday, February 22nd. We managed to avoid the rain and the hot coffee was good to have on hand.  A good time was had by all attendees--- i.e. no major catastrophic and abrupt meetings with ground! (2-22-20)

Coffee and donuts for all attendees, bring your favorite electric plane and show it off at the Fun Fly In. Field opens at 0700 and are done by 0900 unless weather stops us.  See you there. Check out the calendar of events for 2020 on the Web site and come join the flying fun. (2-22-20)

NOTE: It's past time to renew the annual membership in the AMA and SBRCM for 2020. If you have renewed your AMA membership you can renew your SBRCM membership, it's just $25 for 2020.  If you are flying at electrics at Elings Park you will need to renew directly with them as well for the calendar year 2020, dues are $70.

General Business Meetings

Meetings are held at 6:30PM, the first Thursday of even-numbered months at 45 Hartley Place, Goleta, CA 93117 (adjacent to the Santa Barbara Airport). Any member or guest may attend. Our December meeting is a banquet at Harry’s Plaza, reservations required.

Elings Park Flying

The South Elings Park field is open from 7AM to Sunset. Most flyers come Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:15AM.   Evening flying starts about 5:00pm until Sunset. Our runway is just below where the paragliders land. Access is the unmarked south entrance to Elings Park.  From the Cliff/Las Positas traffic circle, the entrance is .1 mile east on Cliff on the north side.

Learn to Fly

At these morning flying meets at Elings we demonstrate and teach RC airplanes to adults and youth.   We can advise you on buying, flying, and maintaining an airplane.  Or, we often use our airplane and our two transmitters, one for you and one for the instructor.  We give you control and take it back if you have difficulty.  Introductory lesson is free.  To continue, an Elings Park membership is required.  Email "" for information and to make a reservation at the field.

Float Flying

We fly airplanes on Lake Cachuma, Mohawk Shores several times a year. Four dates for 2020 have been confirmed and are published on the club calendar.  Contact Glenn Dorfman, or Peter Nickel for information and questions.
